At least two individuals lost their lives, and 14 others—including police officers—were injured in a bomb explosion on Thursday in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police authorities confirmed.
The blast, triggered by an improvised explosive device (IED), occurred near a police patrol van close to a taxi stand in Wana tehsil of South Waziristan district, said District Police Officer Tahir Shah. After the blast and the gunfire that ensued, security forces reached the area, and the wounded were taken to Wana Headquarters Hospital for treatment.
Since the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) withdrew from its truce with the government in November 2022, the country has seen a considerable escalation in terror activities, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
