2 Dead, Several Injured in Major Blast at Mohali Oxygen Plant; Rescue Efforts Underway

A major explosion at an oxygen plant in Mohali, Punjab on Wednesday morning has claimed the lives of two people and injured at least three others, according to officials.

The blast occurred around 9 AM at the industrial unit located in Phase 11 of the city.

Following the incident, medical teams, police officials, and district administration personnel swiftly arrived at the site and began rescue operations. The injured were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

“The incident has resulted in two fatalities. Three others who sustained injuries have been admitted to Civil Hospital, Phase 6 for medical care,” officials confirmed.

Speaking to the media, SP City Sirivennela said that an investigation into the cause of the blast is in progress.

“A powerful explosion occurred this morning in an oxygen cylinder plant located in the Phase 11 industrial area. Two employees lost their lives and three others were injured. A preliminary investigation is underway, and the exact cause is yet to be determined. There may still be some gas leakage, so precautions are being taken,” she stated.

Rescue operations are ongoing, and authorities are continuing to monitor the site to ensure there is no further danger.
