20 TMC from Cauvery to Tamil Nadu. The Cauvery Management Committee has recommended that the water should be opened.
The 99th meeting of the Cauvery Management Committee was held yesterday through video from Delhi. Representatives of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala participated in it. The Tamil Nadu government representatives who participated in the meeting demanded that Karnataka should be ordered to release 40 TMC of water.
At the end of the discussion in this regard, 1 TMC per day will reach Tamil Nadu till 31st. Total rate is 20 TMC. The committee suggested to the Cauvery Management Authority that the water should be released.
Karnataka government representatives in the meeting said that the water in the dams in Karnataka is only for the state’s needs and hence water cannot be released to Tamil Nadu. But it is noteworthy that the authorities did not accept it and recommended to open the water.
