“2026 should be a great year for Tamil Nadu democracy” Premalatha Vijayakanth

DMDK General Secretary Premalatha Vijayakanth has expressed her hopes that the year 2026 should be a significant one for Tamil Nadu, paving the way for a bright future and the flourishing of democracy.

Premalatha Vijayakanth participated in a birthday celebration event held at her residence in Saligramam, Chennai. As part of the event, she inaugurated a water distribution station and provided welfare assistance to party workers and supporters.

Following the ceremony, her son, Vijay Prabhakaran, extended his heartfelt wishes by feeding her sweets as a token of affection. Additionally, DMDK Deputy Secretary and her brother-in-law, L.K. Sudhish, arrived with his family to convey his best wishes. Chennai district secretary Palani also greeted her by presenting a ceremonial platter of fruits.

Addressing the media after the event, Premalatha Vijayakanth remarked that after the demise of her husband, Vijayakanth, she had personally wished to refrain from celebrating her birthday. However, she accepted the request of DMDK party functionaries, who insisted on marking the occasion as a special gathering.

She further emphasized her vision for the future, stating that Tamil Nadu should witness remarkable growth and democratic prosperity in the coming years, especially in 2026, which she believes should be a year of transformation for the state.

Meanwhile, opposition leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami, Tamil Nadu BJP President K. Annamalai, and several other political leaders conveyed their birthday wishes to Premalatha Vijayakanth, acknowledging her leadership and contribution to the state’s political landscape.
