8-Year-Old Boy Attacked By Stray Dog Without Provocation In UP; Incident Captured On CCTV

The dog attack coincided with the Supreme Court’s order on stray dogs, which mandates their relocation to shelters within two months in Delhi-NCR.

An eight-year-old boy was mauled by a stray dog while playing outside his home in the Alipur area of Gajraula town, Amroha district, Uttar Pradesh, officials said on Tuesday.

The incident, which occurred on Monday, was recorded on a CCTV camera. The boy, identified as Ahad Saifi, suffered injuries on his arms and legs.

Coincidentally, the attack took place on the same day the Supreme Court, in a suo motu hearing, directed authorities in Delhi-NCR to remove stray dogs from public places and shift them to shelters, ensuring they are not allowed to roam free. The order has drawn mixed reactions, with some supporting and others opposing the directive.

How Did the Incident Happen?

The video footage shows the dog suddenly lunging at the boy without any apparent reason as he was playing outside his residence. Two passers-by riding a motorcycle intervened and rescued the child from the dog’s grasp, officials added.

Following the attack, the boy’s family immediately took him to the Community Health Centre (CHC), where he is currently undergoing treatment.

Reports suggest that the same stray dog had been involved in previous dog-bite incidents in the locality.
