Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam has strongly criticized the budget report presented in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. In his statement, he accused the government of failing to prioritize the welfare of the people and described the report as a mismanagement of financial resources rather than a proper financial plan.
Regarding the welfare of government employees, he expressed disappointment over the government’s refusal to reinstate the old pension scheme. This decision has left thousands of government employees and pensioners disheartened. Additionally, the absence of any announcement regarding salary increments has caused significant frustration among government staff. Furthermore, he pointed out that the budget failed to include an increase in the financial assistance provided to senior citizens, raising concerns about the government’s commitment to social justice.
Beyond these issues, he emphasized that the budget report presented in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly does not allocate sufficient funds for crucial public welfare schemes. As a result, he asserted that this is not a true financial statement but rather a report reflecting financial mismanagement.
