Israel Defense Forces Arrest Over 60 Suspected Palestinian Militants
Hamas Attack on Israel
On October 7, 2023, the Palestinian militant group Hamas launched a large-scale attack on Israel, causing significant devastation and casualties. Thousands of Israeli civilians and soldiers were killed, and hundreds were taken hostage by Hamas fighters.
In response, the Israeli government declared war and initiated airstrikes, ground invasions, and other military operations in the Gaza Strip. Since then, the Israel-Palestine conflict has escalated into a prolonged and intense battle.
Casualties in Gaza
As a result of Israeli military operations, more than 46,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. This includes a significant number of women, children, and elderly civilians. In addition, hundreds of thousands have been injured, and millions have been displaced, creating a massive humanitarian crisis.
Ceasefire Agreements and Prisoner Exchanges
To bring an end to the conflict, several ceasefire agreements have been attempted. The first phase of the ceasefire officially ended on March 1, 2025.
Under this agreement, Israel and Hamas agreed to exchange prisoners, leading to the release of several Israeli hostages and Palestinian detainees. However, the situation remains unstable, with both sides continuing military operations.
Israel’s Latest Security Operations
Following the end of the initial ceasefire, Israel insisted on extending the truce under the condition that all remaining Israeli hostages be released. As part of its ongoing security measures, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have intensified their search operations.
Arrest of Over 60 Palestinians
Recently, IDF forces conducted large-scale raids in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, arresting over 60 Palestinians suspected of involvement in terrorist activities.
According to a statement from Israel’s security forces, some of those arrested are alleged members of Hamas and other militant organizations.
So far, more than 6,000 Palestinians have been arrested in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, with 40% of them suspected of having ties to Hamas, Israeli officials claimed.
Future of the Ceasefire and the Conflict
International analysts fear that the Israel-Palestine conflict may escalate further. As ceasefire negotiations continue, the key question remains: Will a long-term peace agreement be reached, or will the violence intensify?
