BJP Tamil Nadu President Annamalai addressed reporters at Coimbatore Airport and made strong remarks about the state’s political landscape.
He stated that as the Leader of the Opposition, Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) has every right to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He clarified that there was nothing wrong with EPS meeting Amit Shah or Nirmala Sitharaman, and there was no secret meeting involved. Regarding alliance matters, he acknowledged that Amit Shah’s opinion could be considered final but emphasized that the BJP does not need to hold secret discussions with anyone. He firmly stated, “The BJP will never control Tamil Nadu politics from Delhi.”
Speaking about the internal conflicts within AIADMK, Annamalai said that the BJP has no necessity to interfere. He dismissed claims that the BJP seeks to weaken other parties for its growth, stating, “There is no need for BJP to destroy another party in order to grow.”
Referring to a recent C-Voter survey, Annamalai pointed out that Chief Minister M.K. Stalin did not receive overwhelming support. He remarked, “Even if a chief minister is performing poorly, they still receive at least 43% support in surveys. However, Stalin’s support is even lower than that.” This highlights BJP’s growing opposition to the DMK government.
Annamalai also reaffirmed his commitment to politics, stating, “I entered politics not for any individual but to serve the people and work for the BJP.” He emphasized that he does not change his stance frequently and always stands by his statements.
Additionally, he confirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Rameswaram on April 6 to inaugurate the new railway bridge.
Regarding actor Vijay’s security, Annamalai stated that as Tamil Nadu police did not provide protection, central security forces have taken steps to ensure his safety. However, he clarified that there were no political motives behind this decision.
Annamalai’s statements indicate a strong and independent approach to Tamil Nadu politics, setting the stage for further debates and discussions.
