Online Booking Cancelled for Sabarimala Darshan on May 18 and 19 Due to President’s Visit

Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple is one of the most significant pilgrimage centers for Hindus, attracting millions of devotees every year. Devotees undertake strict vows and spiritual practices before making the arduous journey to this hill shrine in Kerala. For the monthly poojas in May, the temple will open on May 14 and remain open until May 19 for devotees.

During this period, President of India Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to visit Sabarimala. According to official sources, she will arrive on May 18 and is expected to have darshan (worship) at the Ayyappa temple on May 19.

In light of this high-level visit, the Travancore Devaswom Board has announced a significant change in the darshan procedures. Online booking for darshan has been cancelled for May 18 and 19. This means devotees will not be allowed to book or enter the temple for darshan through the online reservation system on these two days.

This temporary cancellation has been made primarily due to security concerns. As the President is the highest constitutional authority in India, elaborate security arrangements must be made before, during, and after her visit. To avoid overcrowding and to ensure smooth and safe proceedings, the Devaswom Board has suspended online bookings for the specified dates.

Online reservation for Sabarimala darshan was introduced to manage the massive influx of devotees and reduce overcrowding. It allows devotees to book their slot for darshan in advance, ensuring an organized and streamlined experience. While the cancellation may disappoint some pilgrims, it is seen as a necessary step under the circumstances.

The Travancore Devaswom Board has urged devotees planning to visit Sabarimala on May 18 and 19 to revise their travel plans. By informing the public well in advance, the Board aims to help devotees avoid inconvenience and make alternate arrangements if needed.

It is expected that from May 20 onward, normal darshan services will resume and the online booking system will be reactivated. This visit by the President also highlights the spiritual and cultural significance of Sabarimala, reinforcing its national importance.

Devotees are encouraged to stay updated through the official Devaswom Board website or verified news sources for further announcements regarding temple access and darshan schedules.
