Don’t Politicize Enforcement Directorate Investigations” – BJP Senior Leader Pon Radhakrishnan

Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan has urged political parties and the public not to politicize the ongoing investigations conducted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Speaking to reporters in Kulithurai, located in Tamil Nadu’s Kanyakumari district, he emphasized that the ED is an autonomous agency with the authority to investigate financial crimes and must be allowed to perform its duties without undue political pressure or misrepresentation.

Addressing recent political criticisms that ED investigations are being used as tools for political revenge, Pon Radhakrishnan strongly dismissed such claims. He stated that just because the ED is investigating political figures or politically sensitive issues, it does not mean that its actions are politically motivated. “The Enforcement Directorate is an independent body with specific powers conferred by the law. Interfering with or questioning its legitimacy amounts to undermining our legal system,” he said.

He further highlighted that even though courts may issue interim stays or restrictions in certain cases, such as the TASMAC-related issues, it does not stop the enforcement agencies from doing their rightful duty under the law. The law must take its course, and any obstruction to that process should be seen as a challenge to justice itself, he argued.

In a passionate statement, Radhakrishnan turned the spotlight on national security and the sacrifices made by India’s armed forces. He reminded citizens that over 140 crore people in India sleep peacefully because of the unwavering commitment and sacrifice of soldiers who guard the nation’s borders from terrorist threats and foreign invasions. “Their sacrifices are beyond comparison. To belittle or question them is equivalent to speaking ill of one’s own mother,” he said.

This remark appeared to be a response to individuals or groups who may have made controversial or insensitive comments about the armed forces. He insisted that anyone who dares to criticize the defense forces, either directly or indirectly, lacks gratitude and patriotism. He urged political leaders and citizens alike to show respect and support for the military, which he described as the backbone of national integrity and sovereignty.

Pon Radhakrishnan concluded by reiterating that constitutional and legal bodies such as the judiciary, the Enforcement Directorate, and the armed forces are the pillars of Indian democracy. Discrediting these institutions for short-term political gains can weaken the country from within and mislead the public. He called for responsible politics and respect for institutions that serve the public interest.

In summary, Radhakrishnan’s remarks serve as a reminder that investigations by legal agencies should not be misinterpreted as political vendettas and that the integrity of national institutions must be preserved above all political narratives.
