Man arrested for ‘indecent act’ with pet chicken, sexually harassing neighbour’s minor son in Mumbai

The accused, Rajendra Rahet, lives alone and keeps several chickens as pets in his house

A 45-year-old man from Mumbai’s Borivali area has been arrested for allegedly engaging in an indecent act with a pet chicken and behaving inappropriately with his neighbour’s minor son.

The accused, Rajendra Rahet, lives alone and keeps several chickens as pets in his house. According to the police, on July 22 at around 10:30 pm, a neighbour reported that he saw Rahet behaving inappropriately with a chicken in his room.

The neighbour recorded the incident on his mobile phone and filed a complaint with the police.

During the investigation, the complainant’s 10-year-old son told his parents that Rahate had shown him pornographic images on his mobile phone several times since 2021 and warned him not to talk about it.
Based on the complaint, Rahate was taken for questioning and later arrested.

The police have registered a case against him under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and laws related to animal cruelty.

Further investigation is underway, officials said. “The angle of animal cruelty is also being investigated to add more charges against the accused. Performing an unnatural act on any animal amounts to cruelty, which is a violation of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act,” the police officer said.
