Manchester United Thrash Bournemouth 4-1 In Pre-Season Friendly

Premier League side Manchester United recorded an emphatic win over fellow English club Bournemouth at Soldier Field in the Premier League Summer Series.

Rasmus Hojlund, Patrick Dorgu, Amad Diallo, and Ethan Williams were all on the scoresheet for United as Ruben Amorim’s men cruised to a 4-1 victory against the Cherries. Bournemouth managed a consolation when Matthijs de Ligt turned the ball into his own net late in the game.

Hojlund opened the scoring in the 8th minute with a header past Bournemouth goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic, following a brilliant cross from his Danish teammate Dorgu. Dorgu then made it 2-0 in the 25th minute, latching on to a quickly taken lofted free-kick by Mason Mount, powering into the box and calmly slotting the ball under the onrushing keeper.

Diallo netted United’s third goal in the 53rd minute before Amorim made nine substitutions with 20 minutes to go. Substitute Williams made an immediate impact, scoring just two minutes later with a composed low finish into the far corner to extend the lead to 4-0.

United’s only setback came in the 88th minute when de Ligt inadvertently scored an own goal.

In another Premier League pre-season clash held in Chicago, West Ham came from behind to beat former manager David Moyes’s Everton 2-1. Idrissa Gueye put Everton in front in the 17th minute, but Lucas Paquetá equalised for West Ham just before half-time. Niclas Füllkrug, the German international, sealed the win for the Hammers in the 64th minute.

The defeat marked another disappointing outing for Everton, who had previously suffered a 3-0 loss to Bournemouth on Saturday.

“I’m not too worried because I don’t have the squad I need or want,” Everton boss David Moyes commented after the game. “We were aware before travelling to the US that it would be tough. We never expected to come here and dominate.”

“At the moment, we’re just not prepared to deliver good performances in this tournament, nor are we ready for the start of the Premier League.”

The four-team tournament will conclude in Atlanta on Sunday, with Manchester United facing Everton and West Ham taking on Bournemouth.
