Arjit Taneja, Twinkle Arora, and Riya Sharma Likely To Play Leads In Jhanak
The current roles portrayed by Hiba Nawab and Krushal Ahuja will be shown dead post the leap.
The television serial Jhanak, which currently stars Hiba Nawab and Krushal Ahuja in the lead, is gearing up for a major generation leap. With this change, the current lead pair will exit the show, leaving fans disheartened. The leap is part of the makers’ efforts to improve the show’s TRP. Ever since the news came out, speculation has been rife regarding who will step into the main roles.
Although names like Erica Fernandes and Zohaib Siddiqui were earlier being considered, the final cast has now been reportedly confirmed. As per a report by Filmibeat, the makers have zeroed in on Arjit Taneja, Twinkle Arora, and Riya Sharma to play the new leads.
The existing characters of Hiba Nawab and Krushal Ahuja will be written off with their onscreen deaths following the leap. The new cast is likely to begin shooting soon, although an official confirmation from the production team and the channel is yet to come.
Arjit Taneja recently finished filming Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye, while Riya Sharma was last seen in Dhruv Tara. Twinkle Arora became popular through her role in Udaariyaan, where she was paired opposite Hitesh Bharadwaj and Vivian Dsena.
The decision to bring in a generation leap, reportedly planned for after the conclusion of IPL 2025, comes after Star Plus’ programming team instructed the production unit to achieve a minimum TRP of 2. A source from the television industry told Filmibeat that although Jhanak is doing reasonably well, the channel wants even better figures.
“The channel and production house have decided to go ahead with a generation leap after IPL 2025. Star Plus has clearly told the makers to improve TRP or stop the show altogether. While Jhanak is getting decent viewership at the 10:30 pm time slot, the channel is not satisfied with the numbers. They are expecting a minimum of 2 TVRs for the late-night slot. Interestingly, even popular shows like Jaadu Teri Nazar, Anupamaa, and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai have seen a noticeable dip in ratings. Yet the pressure is mostly on Jhanak, which doesn’t seem entirely fair,” the report stated.
Viewers are now eagerly waiting to see how the new generation will carry the story of Jhanak forward.
