Sunil Grover Began His Career With Comedian Jaspal Bhatti

He Earned Just Rs 500 In His Early Days
In an interview with Humans of Bombay, Sunil spoke about his early struggles in Mumbai, where he used to earn only Rs 500 per month. He said, “After finishing my Master’s degree in theatre, I shifted to Mumbai to become an actor. But in the first year, I just partied. I stayed in a posh locality using my savings and financial help from home. I would earn around Rs 500 a month. Still, I believed that success was not far.”
He added, “Eventually, I realised that there were many like me who were ‘superstars’ in their hometowns but just ‘strugglers’ in Mumbai. I had no regular income, and reality hit me hard. It was quite demotivating.”
Sunil Also Worked As A Radio Jockey

How Did ‘Gutthi’ Come Into Existence?
Sunil shared, “Gutthi happened, and it instantly became a household character! I was once invited to a live show, and when I stepped on stage, the crowd burst into applause. I looked around to check if the cheers were for someone else—but they were for me. It took a few such experiences to revive the inner child in me who once dreamt of ruling the world.”
