‘It Was a Conspiracy’: RSS’s Bhaiyyaji Joshi Welcomes Court Decision in Malegaon Blast Case

RSS leader Suresh Bhaiyyaji Joshi has welcomed the NIA court’s acquittal of all seven accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, including Pragya Thakur, describing it as a justification of the RSS’s long-standing stance.

A few days after a special NIA court in Mumbai cleared all seven accused in the Malegaon blast case, RSS functionary Suresh Bhaiyyaji Joshi on Sunday appreciated the judgment, saying it confirms what the organisation had been stating for years — that the entire case was part of a conspiracy. “We had been saying for a long time that this was a conspiracy, and the court’s verdict has now proved that,” Joshi said.

Joshi highlighted that the judgment is an important step forward and urged the government agencies to probe deeper to identify those who were allegedly behind the planning of the attack.

“This is a major development. Now, government agencies must find those who were involved in this conspiracy.”

The Malegaon blast case is linked to the 2008 bomb explosions in Malegaon, Maharashtra — a town with a large Muslim population — which led to the deaths of six individuals and injuries to nearly 100 others.

On Thursday, a special NIA court acquitted all seven individuals, including former BJP MP Pragya Thakur, in the 2008 Malegaon blast case. The court stated that the prosecution had failed to prove the allegations beyond reasonable doubt.

The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) had earlier alleged that the motorcycle used in the blast, which was rigged with explosives, belonged to Pragya Thakur. She was arrested in 2008 following this claim.
