BSF Nabs Man Near Indo-Pak Border in J&K’s Kathua; Pakistan-Linked Calls Found on Mobile

The Border Security Force (BSF) personnel on Monday apprehended a man near the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district.

The Border Security Force (BSF) personnel on Monday detained a man close to the International Border in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir after finding suspicious activity on his mobile phone, including call records connected to a Pakistani number.

Officials informed CNN-News18 that the man was picked up by BSF jawans during routine patrolling along the sensitive border area.

While checking his phone, they reportedly discovered multiple call logs, one or more of which were traced to Pakistan, triggering serious security concerns.

At present, the individual is being questioned by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police to ascertain the nature of his contacts and any possible links to cross-border networks, they added.

The identity of the suspect has not been revealed so far, and more information is awaited as the investigation progresses.

Following the incident, security has been intensified in the region.

In a separate case, a Pakistani citizen was caught by security forces in March while trying to cross the International Border in the Hiranagar sector of Kathua district.

As per officials, security personnel noticed suspicious movement near the border the previous night. After firing several warning shots, they nabbed the individual.

The person was later identified as Qadir Baksh, a resident of Gafurabad in Pakistan’s Chiniot Tehsil. Authorities had launched a probe into the infiltration attempt.
