‘I Still Miss Him’: Sonia Rathee Remembers Siddharth Shukla Fondly
Siddharth Shukla’s untimely demise in September 2021 left fans and colleagues shocked and heartbroken. The beloved actor, who was last seen in the web series Broken But Beautiful 3, continues to be remembered with deep affection by those who worked with him.
His co-star in the romantic series, Sonia Rathee, recently opened up about her emotions and memories of working with him. In an interview with Filmygyan, when asked whether she missed Siddharth while watching Broken But Beautiful 3, she admitted,
“Mujhe bhi yaad aati hai, isiliye main dekhti hi nahi hoon… and I will cherish Broken But Beautiful 3 forever.”
Last year, producer Ekta Kapoor had decided not to continue the series with a fourth season, as a tribute to Siddharth. Responding to that decision, Sonia called it a “brilliant gesture.” She added that the characters Agastya (played by Siddharth) and Rumi (played by Sonia) were so deeply connected that the story “should not have continued without Siddharth.”
She further said,
“Ekta knew Season 4 could not be made with anyone else. Siddharth deserved a tribute. It was a beautiful way to honour him because he embodied Agastya, and Rumi’s story simply couldn’t go on without him.”
Sonia’s Upcoming Projects
On the professional front, Sonia Rathee is all set to appear in the upcoming horror-comedy film Kapkapiii, directed by Sangeeth Sivan and produced by Jayesh Patel and Vipin Agnihotri. The film also stars Tusshar Kapoor and Shreyas Talpade, and is a remake of the 2023 Malayalam hit Romancham. It is scheduled to hit theatres on May 23.
Sonia has previously been seen in the Netflix series Decoupled alongside R Madhavan and Surveen Chawla, where she played the role of Masha. She also starred as Tara in John Abraham’s romantic comedy Tara vs Bilal, released in 2022.
