Durand Cup 2025: Mohammedan SC Conclude Campaign with 3-0 Win Over BSF FT
Mohammedan Sporting Club concluded their 2024 Durand Cup journey on a positive note with a 3-0 triumph against BSF Football Team, courtesy goals from Sajal Bag and Maxion, reflecting their dominance.
Mohammedan Sporting Club ended their 2024 Durand Cup campaign in style, registering a commanding 3-0 victory over BSF Football Team in their concluding Group F match on Thursday.
Having entered the clash on the back of two consecutive losses, the Kolkata-based side appeared determined to regain lost pride—and they wasted no time in stamping their authority.
Within just five minutes, Sajal Bag confidently converted a penalty to hand Mohammedan the lead, displaying composure and leadership under pressure. The early strike caught BSF FT off guard and shifted the momentum completely in favour of the Black Panthers.
Maxion Scores Twice
The pressure continued to build as Mohammedan maintained an aggressive approach. In the 21st minute, a powerful strike was blocked by BSF goalkeeper Harpreet Singh, but Maxion reacted quickly and slotted in the rebound, doubling the lead with a smart finish. The goal sent the home supporters into celebration and further unsettled BSF.
Maxion remained the key figure in Mohammedan’s frontline and was rewarded again in the 35th minute. A pinpoint cross from the right flank found him unmarked in the box. With excellent control and awareness, he fired in his second goal of the game—capping a well-orchestrated team effort that highlighted their technical skills and coordination.
BSF had a brief opportunity to respond before the break, as Kishori Singh delivered a threatening ball across the face of goal for Navjot Singh, but the striker failed to convert from close range.
Mohammedan Maintain Control in Second Half
Holding a comfortable 3-0 lead, Mohammedan adopted a more composed strategy in the second half, focusing on maintaining possession and structure. Their midfield, lively in the opening half, switched into a more controlling role.
BSF FT attempted to reduce the margin, with Kishori Singh remaining active and Navjot Singh again finding himself in promising positions. However, their attempts lacked the finishing touch, and Mohammedan’s defence, led with composure and discipline, ensured the clean sheet was preserved.
Substitute Shiba Mandi brought fresh momentum into the attack and nearly netted a fourth goal late in the game, missing the target narrowly after a solo effort.
