Hina Khan Reflects On Her Memorable Komolika Days, Thanks Ektaa Kapoor
Hina Khan’s performance as the iconic Komolika in Ektaa Kapoor’s Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2 still remains unforgettable. The role marked a bold shift from her earlier image as the calm and composed housewife in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. In a recent post, Hina looked back at the time when she bagged the Best Actor award in both the Popular and Critics’ Choice categories at the Indian Telly Awards for her portrayal of Komolika.
She also extended sincere gratitude to Ektaa Kapoor for giving her the opportunity to play such an iconic role. On Monday, Hina Khan shared a throwback photo featuring herself with both the trophies from the Indian Telly Awards. In a note attached to the post, Hina Khan wrote, “Thank You Ektaa Kapoor for giving me Komo.”
Taking a nostalgic look back, she further said, “This picture showed up after so many years… Goshhhh what a day.. I remember I was leaving after my first award was declared. These people requested me to wait, and I was confused WHY.. A very RARE moment in an actor’s career when you win both BEST ACTOR critics and popular.. Forever Grateful IndianTellyAwards (sic).”
Touched by Hina Khan’s message, Ektaa Kapoor reshared the post on her Instagram Stories and wrote, “You are such a star, my darling Hina (sic).” The story is no longer visible now due to Instagram’s 24-hour expiry.
In an earlier conversation with the Indian Express, Hina Khan had revealed she wasn’t confident about portraying Komolika on screen and accepted the role only after Ektaa’s encouragement. She had said, “Playing Komolika wasn’t a planned decision. Ektaa Kapoor was the one who motivated me and pushed me to do it. I had zero confidence in playing a negative role, especially Komolika. The legendary Urvashi Dholakia nailed it, so I felt it was impossible to match that level.”
Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2 had Parth Samthaan and Erica Fernandes in lead roles, with Hina Khan joining them as the antagonist. In the first season of the show, Urvashi Dholakia played the negative character, which went on to become iconic and made her a household name.
