‘Not Relevant’: Abhijeet Sawant Slams Rahul Vaidya’s Remarks On Virat Kohli
Rahul Vaidya had earlier claimed in his posts that Virat Kohli had blocked him on Instagram.
Singer-actor Rahul Vaidya has been at the centre of a controversy for some time now, owing to his repeated remarks on Virat Kohli. From calling fans of the Indian cricketer “jokers” to alleging that Kohli blocked him on Instagram, Vaidya drew significant attention through his social media posts. Now that the singer claims he has been unblocked by Kohli, Indian Idol Season 1 winner Abhijeet Sawant could not resist making a light-hearted dig at him.
Sawant, who earlier competed with Rahul Vaidya on the singing reality show Indian Idol, shared his views during a Hindi Rush podcast. Stating that he is not friends with the singer, Sawant said, “He is someone, like I said, unnoticed. But he will never go unnoticed. So a person who has the habit of not going unnoticed will do something to draw attention.”
When asked whether Rahul Vaidya deliberately targeted Virat Kohli’s huge fan base, he added, “It is possible, and I don’t find it relevant. I don’t see any meaning in it. Fine, if you see someone doing wrong, no matter how big they are, you should speak up.”
During the discussion, Sawant mentioned that some artistes actually engage in PR tactics to remain in the headlines. Without naming anyone, he quipped, “I don’t want to do any such Rahulgiri.”
Rahul Vaidya–Virat Kohli Controversy
The online spat began when Virat Kohli accidentally liked a picture of Avneet Kaur, after which the cricketer issued a statement attributing it to an Instagram technical glitch. Following this, Rahul Vaidya posted a sharp comment, stating, “So guys, Virat Kohli has blocked me, as you all know. I think that too is an Instagram glitch. Virat Kohli didn’t block me. Instagram’s algorithm told Virat Kohli, ‘I’ll block Rahul Vaidya on your behalf.’ Right?”
Days later, Rahul Vaidya posted on Saturday that Virat Kohli had unblocked him on Instagram. Expressing thanks, Vaidya called Kohli “one of the greatest batsmen.” He also addressed the criticism faced by him and his family during the backlash. Despite the ongoing exchanges between Vaidya and Kohli’s fans, no official comment has been made by the cricketer or his team.
