Manchester United Sign Slovenia Forward Benjamin Sesko for Up to £74 Million

Manchester United have completed the signing of Slovenian international Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig, in a deal worth up to £74 million, finalising their attacking overhaul ahead of the new season.

The 22-year-old becomes the third forward signed by the 20-time English champions during this transfer window. The five-year deal reportedly includes a guaranteed payment of £66.3 million, with the rest in performance-related add-ons.

“Manchester United is pleased to confirm that Benjamin Sesko has joined the club, subject to registration,” the club announced.

Sesko, who has scored 16 goals in 41 appearances for Slovenia, joins Matheus Cunha (£62.5 million) and Bryan Mbeumo (£65 million plus £6 million in add-ons) as the Red Devils’ new attacking options.

Speaking about the move, Sesko said: “The history of Manchester United is very special, but what excites me is the future. When we discussed the project, it was clear that everything is in place for this team to continue to grow and compete for the biggest trophies again soon.”

The forward was also linked with Newcastle United, but Eddie Howe’s side failed to secure the deal despite offering European football this season.

Praising the club’s environment, Sesko added: “From the moment I arrived, I could feel the positive energy and family atmosphere here. It is the perfect place to reach my maximum potential. I cannot wait to start learning from Ruben (Amorim) and connecting with my teammates to achieve the success we know we are capable of.”

Sesko’s arrival comes after a disappointing 2024–25 campaign for United, during which strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee managed just 18 goals between them in all competitions. The team finished with a club-record 18 defeats in the Premier League era and their lowest-ever points tally of 42.
