Nadda Meets NDA MPs Heading Parliamentary Committees, Emphasises Quality of Panel Reports

BJP national president and Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha, JP Nadda, on Monday underscored the vital role of parliamentary standing committees — often referred to as the ‘Mini Parliament’ — in legislative review and policymaking. He stressed that the quality of reports submitted by these panels must be given top priority, urging members to study them thoroughly before final submission.

Nadda said regular meetings of the committees are essential to ensure active participation from members. He convened an interaction with NDA MPs chairing various parliamentary standing committees, which was attended by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, MoS Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal, and Dr L Murugan.

Sources said Nadda pointed out that committee reports often run into several pages, and it is the responsibility of the chairperson to read them in detail to prevent errors. He advised members to make full use of the parliamentary staff assigned to their panels, be well-acquainted with the main findings, and condense lengthy reports into crisp bullet points for quick reference.

He reminded MPs that chairing a parliamentary committee is a major responsibility, particularly at a time when many panels are dealing with issues of significant domestic and global consequence.

Those present included senior NDA MPs heading important committees — Nishikant Dubey (Information Technology and Communication), Appa Barne (Energy), and Dr CM Ramesh (Railways).
