Olympic Champion Julien Alfred to Miss Three Diamond League Meets Due to Injury

The 24-year-old sprinter from Saint Lucia will be absent from the upcoming Diamond League events in Silesia, Lausanne, and Brussels. She was scheduled to compete in the 100m at the Silesia meet and the 200m in Lausanne.

Olympic 100 metres gold medallist Julien Alfred will skip three Diamond League fixtures in August owing to injury, event organisers announced on Tuesday.

Alfred, aged 24, from Saint Lucia, is set to miss the Silesia, Lausanne, and Brussels meetings. She was expected to run the 100m at the Silesia Diamond League and the 200m race in Lausanne.

This season, Alfred has recorded a time of 10.75 seconds in the 100m, placing her second in the world rankings. Her last competition was at the London Diamond League, where she won the 200m with a personal best of 21.71 seconds.

In 2023, Alfred has won four out of five Diamond League races she participated in and has qualified for the 100m final scheduled to be held in Zurich from August 27 to 28.
