Soldier Martyred as Indian Army Foils Infiltration Attempt Along LoC in J&K’s Uri

An Indian Army soldier lost his life during an exchange of fire as security forces foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday, officials said.

The incident took place in the Churunda area of Uri, where troops engaged infiltrating terrorists in a brief but intense gunfight. Further details are awaited.

A day earlier, another soldier was killed during operational duty in Baramulla. “Chinar Corps deeply regrets the loss of Braveheart Sepoy Banoth Anil Kumar while performing operational duty along the LoC. We salute his valour and sacrifice, and stand with the bereaved family,” the Army’s Chinar Corps posted on X.

The infiltration attempts come amid the ongoing Op Akhal in south Kashmir’s forest areas, launched on August 1. So far, two soldiers have been martyred and five terrorists eliminated in the operation.
