1,090 Personnel Receive Gallantry and Service Medals; Government Releases Awardees List
The Ministry of Home Affairs has honoured 1,090 individuals from the police, fire services, home guard, civil defence, and correctional services with Gallantry and Service medals for their exceptional courage, distinguished service, and noteworthy contributions to the nation.
In an official statement issued on Thursday, the ministry announced:
“A total of 1,090 personnel from Police, Fire, Home Guard & Civil Defence (HG&CD) and Correctional Services have been conferred Gallantry and Service Medals on the occasion of Independence Day 2025.”
The awards were conferred under three main categories: Medal for Gallantry (GM), President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM), and Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM).
Medal for Gallantry (GM):
This year, 233 personnel received the GM, which recognises rare and conspicuous acts of bravery in saving lives, protecting property, preventing crimes, or apprehending criminals—often at significant personal risk. Awardees include 226 from the Police, six from the Fire Service, and one from HG&CD.
President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM):
A total of 99 personnel were recognised for their distinguished service—comprising 89 from the Police, five from the Fire Service, three from HG&CD, and two from Correctional Services.
Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM):
The MSM was awarded to 758 individuals for commendable and meritorious service. Among them are 635 from the Police, 51 from the Fire Service, 41 from HG&CD, and 31 from Correctional Services.
