Shagun Pandey Credits Women in the Industry for His Success
Actor Shagun Pandey, known for his stint in MTV Splitsvilla 11, is set to appear as the male lead in Zee TV’s upcoming daily soap Saru, alongside Mohak Matkar. Premiered on May 12, the drama narrates the journey of a small-town girl who dares to dream beyond the confines of her village life.
In an interview with Tellychakkar, Shagun reflected on his rise in the television industry — from playing supporting roles in Tujhse Hai Raabta to landing the lead in Saru. “I remember doing Tujhse Hai Raabta where Reema Shaikh was the heroine and Sheban Azim was the hero. Sonali, our producer at the time, worked with me on Zee. Back then, I would wonder, ‘How will I ever get a lead role? How will I be able to perform it?’” he recalled.
He went on to express deep gratitude towards the women he has worked with. “Women have had such a big hand in shaping my career. From producers to co-actors, so many strong women have helped me get to where I am today,” he said.
Shagun also shared memories from his early struggle, when he left home to pursue acting and often went without proper meals. “During those days, many senior women on set — be it co-stars, on-screen mothers, or others — would make sure I had something to eat. These strong women not only fed me but also gave me work. They empowered me, and now I’m simply paying it forward through Saru’s story,” he explained.
He concluded by saying that when life gives you support during tough times, you should always give back without hesitation.
