Neeraj Chopra’s Wife Himani Mor Quits Tennis, Rejects Rs 1.5 Crore Job Offer After Marriage to Focus on New Ventures

Himani Chopra, wife of two-time Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra, has reportedly quit professional tennis to focus on building a career in sports business. Himani, a former professional tennis player, achieved her career-best ranking of 42 in women’s singles in 2018 — the same year she made her professional debut. She also competed in doubles, reaching a career-high ranking of 27.

Speaking to Dainik Bhaskar, Himani’s father, Chand Mor, revealed that she turned down a lucrative Rs 1.5 crore sports-related job offer in the USA, choosing instead to focus on her own business. She is currently with Neeraj in Europe, where the star Indian athlete is undergoing training.

Himani holds a degree in Political Science from Delhi University and has also completed a course in Sports and Fitness Management from Franklin Pierce University.

Family Waiting to Host Reception

Earlier this year, in January, Neeraj and Himani got married in a private ceremony at a resort in Solan, Himachal Pradesh, announcing the news on social media. Soon after the wedding, the couple left for the USA. Due to Neeraj’s busy schedule, the family is yet to host their wedding reception.

Currently, Himani is managing the Tokyo Olympic gold medallist’s diet and training regimen.

Himani’s Love for Tennis

Born in 1999, Himani started playing tennis while in school, studying in the fourth grade. Initially, her family wanted her to focus on boxing, wrestling, and kabaddi. She learned the fundamentals of training from her mother, who was a Physical Training Instructor (PTI). Himani made her professional debut in 2018 and quickly achieved her career-best ranking that same year. She also represented Delhi University at the national level and participated in the 2017 World University Games.

Chopra Pulls Out of Silesia Diamond League

Fans will have to wait a little longer to see Neeraj Chopra in action, as the star javelin thrower has withdrawn from the upcoming Silesia Diamond League. His last competitive appearance was at the Neeraj Chopra Classic in Bengaluru, which he won. While no official reason has been given for his withdrawal, it is likely that the 27-year-old wants to stay fresh and focus on next month’s World Athletics Championships.
