Odisha Man Tied To Tree, Thrashed By In-Laws Over Family Dispute
In Odisha’s Gajapati district, a man was tied to a tree and beaten up by his in-laws in connection with a domestic dispute. Police have started an investigation into the incident.
According to reports, the man, identified as Jalanta Baliarsingh, was waiting for a family court hearing related to a dispute with his wife. A video of the incident has gone viral, showing him tied to a pole and left there the entire night.
Earlier, Baliarsingh had allegedly beaten his wife Subhadra Malbisoye, whose parents live in another village. After the incident, the local panchayat intervened and directed that the wife should stay at her parents’ place for some months. That was almost a year back, and since then, with separation likely, Baliarsingh has been waiting for the court’s decision.
On Thursday night, while visiting his in-laws’ village to buy groceries, Baliarsingh had an argument with them. The in-laws then caught hold of him, tied him to a pole and thrashed him.
The next morning, police reached the spot and rescued him. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
