Venkatesh (29) hails from Kurumpalur village in Perambalur district. He dug a pit yesterday to build a house on his own land.
In it, when the pit was dug to a depth of 6 feet, it was revealed that the stone idols of Swami were buried in the soil. Subsequently, a pit was dug around the side and 6 Swami Karsilas, each one foot high, were taken out and buried in the soil.
Informed Revenue officials went there and visited and inspected the statues. Later, the archeology department was informed about this and after their study, the details of what these Swami statues are and what period they belong to will be known, Revenue Department officials said.
