In Kallakurichi Karunapuram, many people who bought and drank counterfeit liquor the day before yesterday suffered eye irritation and stomach ache in the middle of the night.
After this, 37 people who were receiving treatment in the hospital died one after another and more than 100 people were admitted for treatment.
The police said that the deceased may have consumed packets of alcohol while this incident has caused a lot of shock. 10 people have been arrested in this connection.
The newly appointed District Collector, Prashanth, personally met the sick and ordered them to provide necessary medical assistance.
