Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has assured that the GST arrears will be released to the states soon.
The 53rd GST Council meeting was held in Delhi under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
In this, Nirmala Sitharaman promised that the central government will help the development of the states by releasing the GST arrears and equitable distribution of taxes.
Also, it has been reported that Nirmala Sitharaman has asked the state governments to take advantage of the 50-year interest-free loan scheme provided by the central government for reform measures.
During this meeting, Tamil Nadu Finance Minister Thangam Tennarasu met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
Sources in the financial department said that he insisted on the speedy release of funds for the Chennai Metro Phase 2 project.
