The Honorable Prime Minister of India, Mr.Modi, has implemented the Farmers’ Honor Fund (PM Kisan) scheme since 2019, which pays six thousand rupees per year directly to farmers’ bank accounts for the benefit of farmers. Through this, in the last five years, Rs.34,000 has been credited to the bank account of each farmer registered under this scheme, in 17 installments. So far, Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai said that the central government has provided Rs 10,435 crore to Tamil Nadu farmers.
According to the last Agricultural Census 2015-16, it was found that there are a total of 79.38 lakh farmers in Tamil Nadu and out of these, about 39 lakh farmers are eligible to receive funds under this scheme. But in Tamil Nadu, about 7 lakh fake persons were not included in this scheme and several hundreds of crores of rupees were embezzled in the last year 2020-2021 and their names were removed from this scheme. However, the work of linking the eligible genuine farmers has not been done.
In the last year 2020 – 2021, around 44 lakh people benefited from this scheme, the number of beneficiaries gradually decreased and now only 21 lakh farmers are benefited. About 23 lakh beneficiaries have been excluded from receiving farmer subsidies by the DMK government. If 23 lakh people are not farmers, what action has been taken by the DMK government in the last three years against those involved in this massive malpractice? About 1,000 crore rupees have been embezzled. So far no action is known to have been taken against those involved.
Apart from this, as per the 2015-16 Farmers Census, about 39 lakh farmers are eligible to benefit from the Central Government’s Farmers’ Honor Fund Scheme. But if only 21 lakh farmers are currently benefiting, it means that the DMK government is lax in connecting eligible farmers from Tamil Nadu to this scheme.
Tamil Nadu Agriculture Department should upload the relevant information on the website created by the Central Government for the Farmers Honor Fund Scheme. But, without taking any action, Tamil Nadu Agriculture Department is lax and many lakhs of eligible farmers are suffering from not being able to get the central government’s agricultural assistance.
The question arises as to whether the 23 lakh people removed from the Farmers’ Honor Fund are not really farmers or just a dirty job by the DMK government to give the central government a bad name. Also, as this fund is directly credited to farmers’ bank accounts, DMK has no way of affixing its sticker and is apparently neglecting eligible farmers by not regularly linking them to Farmers’ Honor Fund Scheme.
On behalf of the Tamil Nadu BJP, Tamil Nadu BJP president Annamalai said that the Tamil Nadu Agriculture Department should immediately abandon its laxity and register all the farmers who are eligible for the Central Government Agricultural Honorary Fund under this scheme and the DMK government should abandon its continuous anti-farmer policy.
