The Meteorological Department has said that rain is likely at a few places in Chennai today.
Southwest Monsoon has intensified in Tamil Nadu. Areas along the Western Ghats and various places are receiving heavy rainfall.
Following this, the Meteorological Department has announced that today (Wednesday) in Tamil Nadu, there may be moderate rain at one or two places in Puducherry and Karaikal, heavy to very heavy rain at one or two places in the hilly areas of Nilgiris and Coimbatore, and heavy rain at one or two places in the hilly areas of Tirupur, Theni and Dindigul districts. An orange warning has been issued for areas prone to heavy rain.
Light to moderate rain may occur at a couple of places in Tamil Nadu, Puduvai and Karaikal tomorrow. Heavy rain is likely at one or two places over hilly areas of Nilgiris and Coimbatore districts.
Chennai and its suburbs will remain mostly cloudy for the next 24 hours. A few parts of the city are likely to experience light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning, the Meteorological Department said.
