If BSNL and Starlink expand their network efficiently using satellite technology, it will significantly disrupt the dominance of Jio and Airtel. Frustrated by recent price hikes, many users may consider switching providers. The entry of Starlink technology in India challenges the existing telecom monopolies by providing the cheapest and most widely available services possible. This new partnership could gain significant market share, forcing established players to rethink their strategies.
Since July 3-4, around 250,000 customers have switched their services from other operators to BSNL through Mobile Number Portability (MNP). The growth in BSNL’s customer base is not limited to transfers from other networks. The company also reported adding around 2.5 million new connections to its network during the period.
In short, efficient expansion of BSNL and Starlink’s network could shake up the Indian telecom market as an attractive alternative for users disaffected by current providers’ price hikes. This change has the potential to challenge existing telcos and attract a significant number of new customers to BSNL.
