More than 4,500 Indian students have returned from Bangladesh amid violent protests.

Indian students from Brahmanbaria Medical College returned to India through the Acura checkpoint on July 20 amid nationwide protests in Bangladesh in Agartala.

So far, more than 4,500 Indian students have returned from Bangladesh amid violent protests. The Indian High Commission in Dhaka is making arrangements for the safe passage of Indians crossing the border, the Ministry of External Affairs said.

Five hundred students from Nepal, 38 from Bhutan and one from Maldives have come to India, the ministry said.

It added that the High Commission is in constant touch with local authorities for the safety and security of Indian nationals. India continues to speak for the welfare and assistance of the remaining students in various universities in Bangladesh.
