The prime duty of a government elected by the people is to maintain law and order… Anbumani Ramadoss

Anbumani Ramadoss said that the main duty of the government elected by the people is to protect law and order.

In a statement issued by PMK President Anbumani Ramadoss said:-

3 deadly political assassinations have taken place in Tamil Nadu on a single day. Cuddalore AIADMK district secretary Padmanathan was hacked to death by a mob when a car ran over him while he was walking in Tiruppanambakkam early on Sunday morning. Selvakumar, district secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party Cooperative Team from Velangulam village of Sivagangai district, was hacked to death by mysterious men while walking on Ilayayankudi road. Jackson, the husband of Usharani, a Congress member of Thiruvattar municipality in Kanyakumari district, was hacked to death by a bike-borne gang. These massacres show that law and order has completely failed in Tamil Nadu.

The police should not shirk its duty by claiming that all those killed were due to enmity. It is true that all the three who were killed had previous enmity. If a person in politics has an animosity with someone, it means that his life is in danger. Therefore, the security threats to them should be analyzed and necessary security arrangements should be made for them. But the police failed to do so.

Apart from brutal political assassinations, the drug culture and the resulting criminal activities are rampant. A video of a 17-year-old ganja-intoxicated boy brutally assaulting another boy in Kasimedu area of Chennai is going viral on the internet. The fact that the banned drug ganja is in circulation so freely that a 17-year-old boy can easily buy it gives an idea of the extent to which law and order has deteriorated in Tamil Nadu.

The primary duty of a government elected by the people is to maintain law and order. But the criminals are on the move without any fear. The police are struggling to stop this. This is the reason for the breakdown of law and order in Tamil Nadu. At least the police should be woken up and ordered to maintain law and order in Tamil Nadu. If that cannot be done, I urge the Tamil Nadu government to take responsibility for the political massacres that have taken place in Tamil Nadu in the last two months and resign.”
