Elections to the Indian Parliament have been conducted in 7 phases and the results have been released.
Congress and Trinamool Congress at the national level to defeat the ruling BJP at the center in this parliamentary election. Various parties including Samajwadi Party, Communist Party, DMK, Aam Aadmi Party formed a team called ‘India Alliance’.

DMK alliance won 40 seats

No absolute majority
No party got the required 272 seats to form a new government. BJP secured only 239 seats alone. So the new government at the center will be a coalition government.
So there is a possibility of formation of coalition government led by Janata Party. BJP has convened a meeting of the alliance parties today (Wednesday).
Similarly, the Congress party has also convened a meeting of leaders of the All India Party.
The results pushed back the polls
All the post-election polls released on 1st had said that the BJP alliance would get more than 350 seats and the All India alliance would get only 125 seats. But the election results belie those polls.
