A controversy has arisen involving Tamil singer Isai Vaani after her performance at a cultural event organized by director Pa. Ranjith’s Neelam Cultural Centre. During the event, a song sung by Isai Vaani allegedly hurt the sentiments of Ayyappa devotees, leading to widespread criticism.
In response, over 50 Ayyappa devotees staged a protest at the R.S. Mangalam Police Station in Ramanathapuram district, demanding action against the singer. They submitted a petition urging strict measures against her for what they claimed was an offensive portrayal of Swami Ayyappa.
The police accepted the petition and assured the devotees that appropriate action would be taken after an investigation. Meanwhile, the incident has sparked intense debates on social media, with people expressing both support and opposition regarding the matter.
This episode has also reignited discussions about the limits of artistic expression and the need to avoid actions that could hurt religious sentiments.
