BJP senior leader H. Raja’s six-month jail sentence in two cases has been stayed by the Madras High Court.
In 2018, H. Raja posted a message on his Facebook page regarding the statue of Periyar. The post also contained criticism of DMK MP Kanimozhi. Following this, complaints were lodged by DMK and Congress party members, leading to the registration of cases against him.
The trial for these cases was ongoing in the Chennai Special Court, where H. Raja was sentenced to six months in jail for each of the two cases.
Challenging the verdict, H. Raja filed an appeal, requesting a stay on the sentence. In response, the High Court granted a stay on his punishment.
