“It won’t be good if I speak in Tamil Nadu style” Central Minister L.Murugan gets angry at press meet
“It won’t be good if I speak in Tamil Nadu style. This is not a place for debate,” Central Minister L.Murugan angrily told reporters at a press meet.
Central Minister of State L.Murugan met reporters in Puducherry. Speaking at the time, L.Murugan said, “The Central Home Ministry has allocated Rs.3,432 crore for Puducherry. Similarly, Rs.1450 crore has been allocated for JIPMER. Out of this, Rs.150 crore will be given for infrastructure development.
The loan amount of farmers’ Kisan credit cards has been increased to Rs. 5 lakh. 16 thousand farmers can avail this in Puducherry. Rs. 186 crore has been allocated for the drinking water management project. Another Rs.12 lakh will not have to be paid in taxes.
In Tamil Nadu, only Rs.800 crore was allocated for the railways before 2014. But after that, we are allocating Rs.6000 crore. We are allocating a new railway line. Many railway stations including Kanyakumari are going to be developed. The Tamil Nadu government should cooperate and acquire the lands.”
At that time, reporters questioned why the central government did not allocate the necessary funds when Puducherry has a loan of Rs. 10 thousand crore. They also pointed out that Chief Minister Rangasamy had said that there was a financial crisis in Puducherry.
Responding to that, L.Murugan said, “Puducherry does not have a financial crisis. The central government has provided the funds requested by the Governor and the Chief Minister. The Prime Minister and the Home Minister are fully providing all assistance. We are providing funds without discrimination. We have allocated funds in a way that treats all states equally. This is a budget that is useful for the people.”
The reporters continued to raise questions regarding the problems of Puducherry. In response, Central Minister L.Murugan said, “Understand the purpose of the budget. We have announced projects and allocated funds for Puducherry. If there are needs, we will fulfill the demands of the Governor and the Chief Minister.”
Continuing, L.Murugan said, “If I start talking in Tamil Nadu style, it will not be good. This is not a place for discussion. A historic budget has been presented. We have given so much money, it should be welcomed,” and left immediately.
During the press conference, Central Minister L.Murugan spoke angrily to reporters and left halfway, causing a commotion there for a while.
