Annamalai Writes to Central Minister L. Murugan Seeking Action Against Vikatan Group

Tamil Nadu BJP State President K. Annamalai has written a letter to Central Minister of Information and Broadcasting, L. Murugan, urging strict action against the Vikatan Group for allegedly acting with the deliberate intention of defaming Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Key Points in Annamalai’s Letter

In his letter, Annamalai has accused the Vikatan Group of misusing press freedom to act as a mouthpiece for the ruling DMK government in Tamil Nadu. He further alleged that the publication is engaged in a deliberate campaign to discredit Prime Minister Modi and misrepresent the policies of the Central government.

Annamalai made the following claims in his letter:

  • Vikatan Group is misusing journalistic freedom to push the political agenda of the DMK.
  • It publishes misleading information about Prime Minister Modi’s governance and Central government schemes.
  • It frequently uses offensive cartoons to mock the Prime Minister in an uncivilized manner.

One of the specific allegations made by Annamalai is that Vikatan Group defamed a crucial diplomatic discussion between former U.S. President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Modi by publishing content that distorts the event and misrepresents its significance. He claimed that this act is a clear violation of the guidelines set by the Press Council of India.

Annamalai’s Demand for Action Against Vikatan

Based on these allegations, Annamalai has urged Central Minister L. Murugan to take strict action against the Vikatan Group.

Additionally, he has sent a copy of his complaint to Ranjana Prakash Desai, the Chairperson of the Press Council of India, seeking her intervention in this matter.

Conclusion

Annamalai has asserted that no media house should misuse its press freedom to deliberately spread false information or engage in character assassination of the Prime Minister or the Central government.

It remains to be seen what course of action the Central government and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting will take in response to this complaint.
