Direct Darshan from the 18th Step at Sabarimala – New Plan to Be Implemented in March
The Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple administration has decided to implement a new plan that allows devotees to have a direct darshan of the deity from the 18th step itself. This change is expected to enhance the experience of devotees and reduce congestion.
Key Features of the New Plan
- Direct Darshan Opportunity
- Previously, devotees had to climb the 18 steps, pass through a walkway bridge, and then proceed to the sanctum to have darshan.
- Under the new plan, devotees will be able to have a direct darshan of Lord Ayyappa immediately after ascending the 18th step.
- Extended Darshan Time
- To manage crowd movement efficiently, arrangements have been made to allow approximately 70-80 devotees per minute to pass through the 18th step.
- Unlike earlier, where darshan time was minimal, devotees will now get 30 seconds to one minute for a peaceful darshan.
- Enhanced Security Arrangements
- Additional police personnel have been deployed at the 18th step to handle crowd control.
- Security personnel rotations will be done every 30 minutes to ensure smooth crowd management and prevent congestion.
- Removal of the Overhead Walkway
- The walkway bridge near the sanctum is set to be removed as part of this new plan.
- This will allow an uninterrupted flow of devotees directly from the 18th step to the sanctum without any obstructions.
