There will be no general secretary post… AIADMK volunteers’ rights recovery committee consultative meeting… OPS confirmed

Former AIADMK coordinator O. Panneerselvam participated in a consultative meeting of the AIADMK Workers’ Rights Restoration Committee held in Egmore, Chennai.

During his speech, he stated, “Very soon, the position of General Secretary will no longer exist in AIADMK. In the party’s future administrative structure, the role of Coordinator will be the key position, and a dedicated party worker will be appointed to it.”

Recalling the history of AIADMK, he remarked, “M.G.R. was expelled from the DMK, which led him to establish a new political movement. AIADMK was formed with the sole intention of serving the people. The party’s policies and legal framework were all created based on M.G.R.’s vision.”

Referring to the alliance negotiations before the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, O. Panneerselvam said, “At that time, Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that AIADMK would be allotted only 75 seats. However, Edappadi Palaniswami refused to accept this, arguing that he had strong political influence and demanded more seats. Since Amit Shah’s advice was ignored, we ultimately lost power and are now facing hardships.”

Thus, he emphasized that structural changes are imminent in AIADMK and insisted that the party must continue to function in line with M.G.R.’s principles.
