While the central government has not made any announcement regarding the delimitation of constituencies, there have been complaints that the DMK government is trying to confuse the people of Tamil Nadu by convening an all-party meeting on the matter. It has been reported that the all-party meeting is being convened to divert the growing dissatisfaction with the DMK government.
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has said that the central government has decided to carry out the reorganization of assembly and parliamentary constituencies according to the population, and through this, the number of Lok Sabha constituencies in Tamil Nadu will be reduced from 39 to 31.
He has also arranged for an all-party meeting on March 5 to discuss this issue. While the central government has not yet made any announcement regarding the delimitation of constituencies, it has been revealed that there are various issues behind the Tamil Nadu government’s initiative to raise this issue.
In Tamil Nadu, where law and order are said to be in a state of complete breakdown with murders, robberies, and crimes against women occurring daily, the unfettered sale of drugs including ganja in all areas, from the capital to the remotest villages, has also caused great dissatisfaction among the people of Tamil Nadu.
In addition, despite the fact that the promises made before the elections, including the re-implementation of the old pension scheme, have not been fulfilled, even after nearly four years of coming to power, various sections of society, including government employees and teachers, are engaged in continuous protests. The DMK government, which has not taken any action to fill the three and a half lakh vacant posts in government departments, has also caused great unrest among the youth who are preparing day and night for the dream of government jobs.
It has also been alleged that Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has now taken up the issue of constituency reorganisation in order to divert the general law and order problems and the strong dissatisfaction and opposition arising in Tamil Nadu and confuse the people. While the central government has not yet made any announcement regarding the constituency realignment, it is said that these reasons are behind the current escalation of the issue.
While there have been allegations that the DMK government is trying to confuse the people by blaming the central government for the National Education Policy, the Three-Language Policy and the PM Shri Schools issue, it has now come to light that it is exaggerating the issue of constituency realignment and trying to prepare the people against the central government.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu BJP leader Annamalai has questioned why Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is trying to create this fear even after he said that the reorganisation of parliamentary constituencies will be beneficial for everyone, including the southern states. He further said that imaginary fears and foolish arguments have become the only activities of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.
Political commentators have said that the Tamil Nadu government, which has organized an all-party meeting regarding constituency realignment, has not yielded any results from the decisions taken in previous all-party meetings, and that the all-party meeting is an act of deceiving the people and the coalition parties.
