Hindi Cultural Festival at Vijay’s School – Controversy Over Contradictory Stance
Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader and actor Vijay had earlier spoken out against the three-language policy, emphasizing that Hindi should not be imposed on Tamil Nadu and that Tamil should be given utmost importance in the state’s education system.
However, just weeks after his speech, a Hindi Cultural Festival was celebrated at Vijay’s school, Vijay Vidyashram, near Chennai. During this event, students sang Hindi songs, recited Hindi poetry, and participated in cultural programs highlighting Hindi traditions.
Viral Photos and Backlash on Social Media
Photos and videos from the event surfaced on social media, sparking criticism. Many supporters of TVK and Tamil language activists accused Vijay of contradicting his own political stance, questioning why a school associated with him was celebrating a Hindi cultural festival while he publicly opposed the three-language policy.
Some critics argued, “Vijay speaks against the three-language policy in politics, but his own school follows it.” Others stated, “He emphasizes Tamil pride in public, yet his institution celebrates Hindi culture. This is hypocrisy.”
Political Leaders React – Strong Criticism from BJP
Tamil Nadu BJP chief Annamalai commented on the controversy, stating that “Vijay has enrolled his son in a school that follows the three-language policy, yet he politically campaigns against it. This is double standards.”
Senior BJP leader H. Raja also criticized Vijay, saying, “He speaks against the three-language policy for political gains, but his school actively promotes it. This is nothing but political drama.”
Will Vijay Respond?
As of now, neither Vijay nor his educational institution has issued an official statement regarding the controversy. However, this incident has sparked unexpected political debates and has raised questions about Vijay’s commitment to Tamil language advocacy.
With the controversy gaining momentum, all eyes are now on Vijay to see whether he will clarify his stance or choose to remain silent.
