Only Rs.75 crore allocated for Tamil Nadu during Congress rule…. Annamalai alleges..!

Tamil Nadu BJP state president Annamalai has accused the Congress-led central government of allocating only ₹75 crore for the development of the Tamil language during its tenure.

According to Annamalai, the previous central government did not undertake any significant efforts to promote Tamil. Instead of listing out the initiatives taken for Tamil’s development, Chief Minister Stalin seems to have realized that there were none and decided to shift focus to another topic, he alleged.

He further stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been taking several measures to promote Tamil language and culture globally. As an example, he highlighted the installation of the Sengol in Parliament, which he claimed was a tribute to Tamil heritage.

Annamalai also pointed out that during the Congress-DMK alliance government, Sanskrit received an allocation of ₹675.36 crore for its development, whereas Tamil was given only ₹75.05 crore. He claimed this disparity showed the lack of commitment from the then-central government toward Tamil’s growth.

Additionally, he questioned the role of the DMK when former Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram proposed over 170 recommendations for strengthening India’s national identity. Annamalai criticized the DMK for failing to take any notable steps to safeguard Tamil interests at the time.

He also recalled how the DMK had previously opposed the song Vande Mataram and now seems to have a similar stance against the Vande Bharat initiative. He remarked that this opposition was not surprising and accused the DMK of maintaining a consistent pattern of resistance.
