BJP’s Trilingual Education Policy Campaign: Over 1 Lakh People Support Online Signature Drive
Tamil Nadu BJP state president Annamalai has announced that the signature campaign in support of the trilingual education policy has received overwhelming public response. According to him, more than 1 lakh people have already signed up online to support this initiative.
Massive Public Support for the Signature Campaign
BJP leaders and members have been actively going door-to-door, gathering signatures from the public in support of implementing the trilingual education policy. Despite opposition from the Tamil Nadu government, the BJP has continued its efforts to mobilize support for the campaign. Annamalai stated that the movement has gained significant traction both online and through direct engagement with people.
Annamalai’s Criticism of CM Stalin
Annamalai has strongly criticized Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, accusing him of shifting his focus to the “imaginary Hindi imposition” after failing to implement the trilingual education policy. He asserted that Stalin can no longer deceive the people by claiming to promote Tamil while opposing necessary educational reforms.
BJP vs. DMK on the New Education Policy
Tamil Nadu’s School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi had earlier admitted that many aspects of the New Education Policy (NEP) were already being implemented in the state. However, now he calls the policy “poison,” which Annamalai has slammed as political double standards. He argued that such contradictory statements expose the Tamil Nadu government’s lack of consistency and confidence in handling educational reforms.
BJP’s Goal – One Crore Signatures
BJP has launched this campaign with the aim of collecting one crore signatures in support of the trilingual education policy. The party claims that this initiative is essential to ensure equal educational opportunities across the country. The BJP argues that a standardized education system will benefit students nationwide and is actively working towards achieving mass public endorsement.
Public Reactions
The Tamil Nadu government and several Tamil organizations have opposed this initiative, viewing it as an attack on the state’s linguistic identity. However, BJP continues to push forward with its campaign, leading to intense debates among the public. Supporters of the New Education Policy believe that it will bring much-needed reforms to the education system, while critics, particularly those aligned with DMK and Tamil nationalist groups, see it as a threat to Tamil language and culture.
As the political battle between BJP and the Tamil Nadu government intensifies, the future course of this campaign will be crucial in shaping the state’s education policy and linguistic rights.
