“Religion Should Not Be Seen in Terrorism” – Swami Chakrapani Maharaj
Recently, Swami Chakrapani Maharaj, the national president of the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha, made a significant statement during his visit to the Shenbagavalli Amman Temple in Kovilpatti, Thoothukudi district. After offering prayers at the temple, he addressed the media and condemned the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, stating that such acts are not good for the nation and that religion should not be considered when dealing with terrorism.
His statement holds great relevance in a country like India, where multiple religions coexist. Terrorism, by nature, is a violent and inhumane act that seeks to destroy peace and harmony. Linking it to any particular religion not only misguides public opinion but also unjustly tarnishes the image of an entire community. Swami Chakrapani Maharaj rightly emphasized that action should be taken against terrorism regardless of the religious identity of the perpetrators.
In matters of national security and law enforcement, there should be no room for religious discrimination. Every citizen is equal before the law, and anyone who endangers the lives and peace of people through acts of terrorism must be dealt with firmly and fairly. Selective interpretation based on religion only breeds division and distrust in society.
Swami Chakrapani’s message reinforces the idea that unity and justice are the pillars of a strong nation. The government, police, civil society, and media all have a responsibility to uphold these values. When terrorism is addressed with a non-partisan and firm hand, it sends a clear message that no one is above the law, and national integrity will not be compromised.
