After ‘Dog Babu’, ‘Lord Ram’, ‘Goddess Sita’ And ‘Crow’ Apply For Bihar Residential Certificate
In Khagaria, fake applications for residence certificates using names like Lord Ram and a crow were rejected, leading to police action.
Following the widely discussed cases of ‘Dog Babu’ and ‘Sonalika Tractor’, yet another strange incident has come to light from Bihar’s Khagaria district, where residence certificate applications were filed under the names of Hindu deities Lord Ram and Goddess Sita, as well as a crow.
As per reports, one applicant submitted a photo of Lord Ram along with a residence certificate request at the Chautham Zone Office in the district. The name mentioned was ‘Shri Ram Ram’, with father’s name – Dashrath, mother’s name – Kaushalya, village – Ayodhya, police station – Chautham, district – Khagaria.
Another application included a photograph of Goddess Sita, with the name listed as ‘Shrimati Mata Sita’, father – Raja Janak, mother – Rani Sunaina, village – Ayodhya, police station – Chautham, district – Khagaria.
In a separate case, a photograph of a crow was submitted along with a residence certificate application at the Khagaria Sadar Zonal Office. The applicant’s name was stated as “Crow”, father’s name – Kaua Singh, mother’s name – Maina Singh, village – Bhadas, district – Khagaria.
The district administration said that it has rejected several such applications submitted through the RTPS portal, and police action has been initiated, with FIRs registered against unidentified persons in concerned police station areas such as Chautham, Gogri, and Chitraguptanagar.
Images of these fake applications have been widely shared on social media, sparking public criticism over the lack of proper verification processes.
Just last week, a similar incident came to light in East Champaran district, where an application was filed under the name ‘Sonalika Tractor’ using a photograph of Bhojpuri actress Monalisa. The applicant claimed to be the offspring of ‘Swaraj Tractor’ and ‘Car Devi’.
Earlier, a residence certificate had even been issued in the name of ‘Dog Babu’, child of ‘Kutta Babu’ and ‘Kutiya Devi’, causing major embarrassment to the local administration. The certificate was immediately cancelled.
In addition to filing an FIR, one computer operator was dismissed for carelessly forwarding the application, and the revenue department official responsible for issuing the certificate faced suspension.
The incident has been seized upon by critics of Bihar’s special intensive revision of electoral rolls, which accepts residence certificates but does not consider Aadhaar cards or ration cards as valid voter documents.
