AIYYA VAIKUNDAR AVATAR CELEBRATIONS DISRUPTED BY DMK GOVERNMENT – DEVOTEES OUTRAGED
Devotees of Aiyya Vaikundar, who celebrate his Avatar Day with great devotion, gathered at the Aiyya Vaikundapathi in Palayamkottai, Tirunelveli district, for prayers and rituals. As part of the celebrations, devotees had arranged for an annadhanam (free meal service) to serve food to the gathered worshippers. However, in a shocking turn of events, the Tamil Nadu police intervened, stopping the annadhanam and even seizing the cooking utensils meant for the event.
This sudden intervention has deeply hurt the sentiments of Aiyya Vaikundar’s followers. Tamil Nadu, which has a strong spiritual and religious heritage, has witnessed increasing restrictions on religious gatherings and activities under the ruling DMK government. While the government frequently speaks about secularism, its repeated interference in Hindu religious events raises concerns about religious discrimination and suppression.
DMK GOVERNMENT’S STANCE ON RELIGIOUS EVENTS
The MK Stalin-led DMK government has been facing criticism for what many consider an anti-Hindu stance, interfering in religious practices under the pretext of law enforcement. Over the past few years, the government has taken control of temple administrations and modified long-standing religious traditions, leading to widespread dissatisfaction among devotees.
In this latest incident, the police action against devotees celebrating Aiyya Vaikundar’s Avatar Day has sparked outrage. Those present at the event have condemned the unwarranted disruption and accused the government of infringing on religious rights. Many devotees believe that such interference is unnecessary and is an attack on their faith.
DEMAND FOR APOLOGY FROM CHIEF MINISTER MK STALIN
Angered by the police’s actions, devotees and spiritual organizations are demanding a public apology from Chief Minister MK Stalin for the distress caused. Additionally, they are urging the government to take action against the officials responsible for this unjust intervention.
The Tamil Nadu government must respect the religious sentiments of its people and refrain from interfering in spiritual and religious practices. Instead of imposing restrictions, the authorities should facilitate and support such religious observances, ensuring that devotees can worship without fear of disruption.
